The Human Bean featured in Lubbock business news

Must read

Hello A-J readers!

This week in the local business scene brought a mix of new openings and one closure. Let’s dive into the latest updates and some Best Bites recommendations for your dining pleasure.

Starting off with the new businesses, Chicken Salad Chick and The Human Bean have recently made their debut in the area. Chicken Salad Chick, located at 5015 Milwaukee Ave., Suite 300, offers a variety of delicious chicken salad options. During my visit, I tried the Trio with the Fancy Nancy, Lauryn’s Lemon Basil, and Sassy Scotty. Among these choices, the Sassy Scotty stood out with its flavorful combination of ranch, bacon, and cheddar cheese. While the restaurant is still ironing out some operational details, it’s definitely worth a visit once they settle in.

On the coffee front, The Human Bean at 7019 82nd St. opened its doors this week. I had the opportunity to sample their Java Chip and Poolside drinks during a pre-opening visit. Both beverages were delightful, but the highlight for me was the chocolate-covered coffee bean that accompanies every drink. If you’re a coffee enthusiast, this spot is worth checking out.

In addition to these newcomers, Sweet Pup Co. recently opened a storefront at 5119 34th St., Suite A, offering pet-friendly products. Maverick Bank broke ground on a new location at 12705 Quaker Ave., while Pollo Rico LBK expanded with a second location at 1301 50th St., Unit #6.

Unfortunately, not all news was positive as Urban Bricks Kitchen at 7610 Milwaukee Ave., Suite 300, announced its pending closure by Sept. 4. The establishment is currently seeking investors to keep its doors open.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to explore a farm with goats, delve into the origin story of High Plains wine, and catch up with various local organizations. As we approach the end of the month, stay tuned for the monthly business roundup article for September, highlighting the latest developments in the local business community.

As we transition into fall, I’m curious to know: What is your favorite fall-flavored drink from your go-to spot? Personally, I’m hoping Monomyth brings back the Apple Pie-Der. Feel free to share your drink recommendations by emailing me at aedgin@lubbockonline.com.

Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of the A-J community. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and features in the weeks to come. Cheers to a thriving local business scene!
